THE RUSSIANS: INSIGHTS THROUGH LITERATURE
(2 reels)
In this 16mm film, Dr. Ernest J. Simons introduces dramatic vignettes adapted from the writings of Russian authors to provide an insight into the character of the Russian people. The film presents scenes from Chekhov’s play "The Cherry Orchard," Gogol’s short story "The Overcoat," Dostoevsky’s novel The Brothers Karamazov, Turgenev’s novel Fathers and Sons and Pasternak’s novel Dr. Zhivago. Comes on one plastic reel and one metal reel (NO CANS). Black-and-white; 54 minutes, CBS News/McGraw-Hill Book Co., 1963. While the film has not been viewed in its entirety, a brief inspection indicated that a small amount of content may be missing (reel 1 starts abruptly, without credits; reel 2 starts abruptly during production screen;) several splices and multiple fine lines are also present, so it is being sold AS IS.
